Informationen vom RopeCon

Hallo Leute,

ein finnischer Freud hat mir Informationen zum RopeCon gesandt.

During the VTES EC some Germans expressed some interest in visiting Finland
during this summre's Ropecon. Among them the most interested was probably
the big guy who ran the Sunday draft side event.

Ropecon is held on 22. - 24.7.2005 in Dipoli, Espoo, which is some 10-15
minutes drive from Central Helsinki.
On Fridays (starting at 18.00) Prince of Helsinki, Petri Wessman, has
traditionally organized a big VTES event and attendance has been around
80-90 players. On Saturdays Prince of Espoo, Tuukka Kallas, has recently
been organizing either a draft or a starter event which has been much smaller.

If you and/or any other guys are interested in arriving I'd be happy to
offer my place as accomodation (including a breakfast). It is located in
Vantaa (some 20 minutes to convention by car or an hour by bus) fairly
close to Helsinki-vantaa airport and there's some 95 square meters room. We
do not have a spare bedroom, but in the library we have a sofa which
unfolds to a double sized bed. If more people arrive, just bring sleeping
bags although we should have one or two spare mattress in the storageroom.
Naturally we also have a sauna. And there's a cat on the premisis as well
so astmathics take note.

Arriving to Finland should be easy from Germany. Either take a Ryanair
flight to Tampere from which you'll need to take a 1 hour train voyage to
Helsinki. Or if you want to have your own car at your diposal take Finnjet
from Lybeck (I think?) to Hanko from where it is around an hour drive to
Helsinki.


I'd be more than happy to help you guys out by offering you the
accomodation (although at the very vicinity of the con the organizers have
a place where you can crash for free I think. just bring sleeping bag...)
and it would really be no trouble at all. Just let me know a week in advance.
