DATE SET FOR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2024: 27-29 SEPTEMBER

Finally a date has been set for this year´s EC. The event will take place on September 27-29 in Warsaw, Poland. Presale of tickets will begin in early/mid May - please, buy early, to help the organisers. This time we WILL make this something really special - it´s not every year VTES turns 30! More detailed information will follow.

Both events will be held in the City Center. If any change would occur (eg. higher demand for Week of Nightmares) we may switch the venue building but we will stick to the city center.


How to get to Warsaw
There are few ways to get to Warsaw:
By plane:

There are two airports:

Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) - located in Warsaw, about 15 minutes train/car ride to the city center

Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI) - located 42 km from Warsaw, it takes about 40 minutes by car or about an hour by bus

By car: The A2 highway is the easiest way to get to Warsaw.

By train: There are three main stations in Warsaw- Warsaw Central, Warsaw East and Warsaw West. Due to some construction work some trains may also go to Warsaw Gdańska station - it’s still in the city center, 5 minutes from the tube station.


Getting around the city
Warsaw has awesome public transport infrastructure, with trams, tube, trains and buses.

Single ticket costs around 1 EUR, and the cost of three day ticket is about 12 EUR.

If you come to Warsaw by car, it’s worth considering to leave the car at the parking lot and move around the city using public transport.

An die anderen: Geht es euch (sinngemäß) ähnlich, oder kommt ihr mit der aktuellen Informatiospolitik der Veranstalter (irgendwie) klar?

Sehe ich wie Hardy.

Das wirkt bisher alles sehr unorganisiert. Es sind nur noch 4 Monate bis zum Event und bis auf das Datum und die Location (seit gestern) weiß man eigentlich Nichts.

VEKN wäre das Mindeste. Eine eigene Homepage (wie in Barcelona) wäre sogar noch besser.

Genau meine Befürchtung.
Ich glaube inzwischen, dass es tatsächlich eine EC in Warschau geben wird.
Doch wenn diese so hemdsärmelig organisiert wird, wie die Informationskampagne aus meiner Sicht organisiert ist, habe ich Sorge, ob das eine Enttäuschung wird.

Ich schließe mich den Äußerungen Hardys und Roys an. Noch bin zuversichtlich, langsam aber sicher werde ich auch „nervös“.

Ich an Hugh:

Regarding the EC: Some players of the Bochum playgroup are getting pretty annoyed by the announcement policy of the organisers. They would highly prefer a central announcement on vekn.net or a separate website featuring all information. Discord and Facebook/Meta are not regarded as a good place to share tournament information.

Hugh an mich:

Not really in our control and they’re also not very communicative with anyone

Also bleibt es entweder so, wie es ist, oder es geschieht ein Wunder und die EC-Orga strebt von sich aus Verbesserungen an.
